The game is a platformer that has been released on Steam since 2015 and is still one of the largest game projects produced by Pixcube Animation Studio. The story of the well-known Swiss folk hero "Wilhelm Tell" - who is known for his skills with the crossbow, is told in a playful way. Four different game modes in 26 beautifully designed levels are waiting to be mastered. A number of challenging achievements can be unlocked and complete the gameplay.
Crossbow Warrior was a team project where I programmed many different areas, including game mechanics, AI intelligence and physics behavior which was quite challenging. I also designed many levels, which I greatly enjoyed. Performance tweaks (light baking, occlusion culling, particle effects, and general lighting) were quite complex to unravel and optimize. In general, developing a game on this scale was an eye-opening experience - I gained a lot of know-how in terms of balancing game mechanics, overall environment settings and also the Unity Engine itself. It was also a personal milestone for me to release a game on Steam.
